The Role

We are seeking talented and motivated Tech Lead for Backend to join our dynamic systems engineering team. As the Tech Lead for Backend, you will be responsible for building and enhancing the competencies in backend software engineering. This position focuses on acquiring new tech stack knowledge, developing team expertise, managing competency metrics, and ensuring the competency of backend engineers in multiple programming languages. You will lead efforts to build a robust, multi-tech stack team capable of delivering high-quality, innovative solutions. This role also serves as a point of escalation for any issues that arise within backend scope during project delivery.

Your Team

  • You will be reporting to the Head of Systems Engineering and Head of Software Services Business Unit.
  • You will supervise Backend Developers, build and enhance their competencies in backend software engineering.
  • You will be working in tandem with other Tech Leads, Delivery Managers, Solutions Architects, L&D team and Business Units.

Your Responsibilities:

Competency Building and Development:

  • Identify emerging technologies and tools for backend software engineering, in accordance with the business strategy and directions.
  • Acquire new tech stack knowledge related to backend software engineering, and integrate it into team competencies.
  • Develop, implement and conduct training programs to enhance team expertise and competency.
  • Ensure the team is proficient in backend multiple programming languages.

Leadership and Team Building:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of backend engineers.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure alignment of the team’s goals with Stratpoint’s strategic objectives.

Technical Strategy and Execution:

  • Develop and implement technical strategies that align with industry trends and client needs.
  • Oversee the execution of projects within the domain, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
  • Implement best practices and methodologies to optimize project and service delivery.

Skill Development and Training:

  • Identify training needs and develop relevant programs to enhance team expertise in backend software engineering.
  • Conduct the training.
  • Encourage continuous learning and professional development.
  • Track and report on training completion and skill development progress.

Project and Service Delivery Support:

  • Serve as a point of escalation internally for project delivery issues within the domain.
  • Collaborate with the other Engineering Leaders, Solutions Architects, FCTOs, and Delivery Managers to resolve issues.
  • Ensure that project deliverables within the backend scope meet quality and performance standards.

Competency Metrics Management:

  • Manage the competency matrix/metrics for the backend software engineering.
  • Ensure that resources are delivering the best value and are on par with their tier levels.
  • Regularly assess and report on the performance and competency levels of team members.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement by adopting emerging technologies and methodologies.
  • Implement process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging the team to experiment with new ideas and technologies.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Factor in engineering standards, practices, regulatory and compliance requirements get reflected and updated in the training and enablement.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with technical and security standards.
  • Address non-compliance issues promptly and effectively.

About You
You are/have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing diverse engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in multiple programming languages, cloud environments, and tools relevant to the domain.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in acquiring new tech stack knowledge and integrating it into team competencies.
  • Experience in managing competency metrics and ensuring resource performance is aligned with tier levels.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in supporting pre-sales and sales activities and defining product solutions for clients.
